A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition met with the Syrian community as well as heads and members of the Syrian expatriate institutions in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. Both sides discussed the latest developments in Idlib, the dire humanitarian conditions the IDP are going through, and the latest developments in the political process.
The SOC’s delegation included member of the Syrian Negotiations Commission, Badr Jamous and Coordinator of the Community Office Yahya Maktabi. The meeting was attended by the SOC’s representative in Romania and head of the Syrian community, Imad Qassas.
Participants in the meeting reasserted that a solution in Syria can only be achieved through achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, and democracy. They pointed out that the root cause of the problem is the tyranny and widespread crimes of the Assad regime against civilians, its disruption of the political process, and its insistence on pursuing a bloody military solution.
The SOC delegation stressed the need for the Romania community to organize cultural and social activities and events to publicize the cause of the Syrian people; highlight the crimes of Russia, the Iranian militias, and the Assad regime against civilians; and mobilize public opinion to support the Syrian revolution and ease the humanitarian disaster in Idlib.
