The Assad regime continues to launch deadly attacks against civilians. The latest of these attacks claimed the lives of two families, including four children who were killed in an airstrike on a farm near the town of Khan Sheikhoun on Sunday’s night.
As the brutal onslaught on Idlib and Hama provinces is further escalating, we repeatedly called for an international action and concrete steps to prevent the Assad regime’s helicopters from flying over Syria’s northwest and dropping barrel bombs on innocent civilians.
The situation on the ground indicates that the Assad regime will continue to commit crimes against civilians. The international community will realize, sooner or later, and after more civilian casualties have taken place, that the only way to stop these ongoing atrocities is an effective international intervention. The Assad regime’s and its allies’ crimes in Syria will not stop until the international community and the UN Security Council shoulder their responsibilities.
The Coalition renews its calls for an effective international mechanism deterring the regime and allied militias as it stresses the need to neutralize the airbases from which the regime and its allies’ airplanes take off to target civilians.
