Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that without the Russian and Iranian support, the Assad regime would fall within twenty-four hours in an interview with CNN TV channel.
“They are giving him (Assad) arms support, financial support, allowing this administration to continue, and they are trying to get rid of the opposition there,” President Erdogan added.
“Is not Daesh (ISIS) in cooperation with the regime right now? ISIS’s biggest support right now is the [Assad] regime, and those who make the effort to keep this regime standing are the ones who carries this responsibility.”
“Why do they feel themselves indebted to Assad? We are facing a Syria that is destroyed, burned, and its own people are wiped out. They are still trying to support such a Syrian president who supports a separatist terrorist organization.”
Erdogan went on: “I talked to them about this. I told them this cannot go on. I told them come withdraw your support, remove your hand and he will fall in 24 hours.”
“I have discussed with Mr. Putin as well this issue at length at the Olympic games in Baku. I saw Mr. Putin differently, and we assigned our foreign ministers to work together. But then statements from Russia that followed truly shocked me. I am having trouble understand this.
Secretary of the political committee Anas al-Abdah earlier said that the Iranian regime is not eligible whatsoever to propose initiatives for a political solution in Syria given the fact that Syrians see Iran as an occupying country and supporting the murderous Assad regime militarily, financially and politically.
“The only Iranian initiative that the Syrian people accept is when the Iranian regime withdraws its sectarian militias that wreak havoc and death in Syria,” Abdah said. (Source: Syrian Coalition + CNN)
