The Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haytham Rahmeh, congratulated the Syrian people on the declaration of victory of the great Syrian revolution against the Assad regime, which had ruled over Syrians for decades through oppression and tyranny. He also extended his congratulations to leader Ahmad Al-Sharaa on his appointment as President of the Syrian Arab Republic during the transitional phase, wishing him success and guidance for the good of Syria and its people.
Rahmeh called on all components and segments of Syrian society to work together to rebuild the Syrian state in a manner worthy of the sacrifices and aspirations of the Syrian people. He emphasized the need to safeguard rights, ensure a secure and dignified life, and elevate Syrian identity to its true stature and ancient civilization. He stressed that the Assad regime left Syria in a miserable state in all aspects, which increases everyone’s responsibility to mobilize all efforts and expertise to achieve progress and address the existing gaps.
Rahmeh stated, “Syrians are experiencing a historic phase that serves as a prelude to building a new Syria. We hope that the transitional phase will be a period of preparation, reform, and groundwork for a new era in which we can take pride before the world, characterized by freedom, equal citizenship, and justice.”
He added, “What we are experiencing today is the result of the long-standing sacrifices of the Syrian people in all fields, the blood of the fallen heroes, and the suffering of the steadfast displaced. All of this has brought victory to the Syrians, toppled the Assad regime, and appointed a new president for Syria.”
On Wednesday, the leaders of the revolutionary groups attended the Victory Conference, which resulted in several resolutions regarding Syria following the fall of the Assad regime and the declaration of victory.
