He cofounded and presided over the National Democratic Bloc in Cairo in 2011
He has joined the Syrian revolution since day one. He was a cofounder of the Syrian National Council and the SOC. He was elected member of the SOC’s political committee more than once
He wrote hundreds of articles and studies as well as around 30 novels and short stories
On July 5, 2021, writer and thinker Okab Yahya passed away in Istanbul. He died of cancer at the age of seventy-five, a lifetime during which he dedicated himself to the struggle against tyranny, injustice and for a free Syria.
