Assad Moves Military Equipment and Personnel into Civilian Areas
September 01, 2013
The Syrian Coalition warns international organizations that the Assad regime has moved military equipment and evacuated personnel from army locations to civilian areas and state institutions (schools, university dormitories, university campuses, and government buildings inside cities). Rockets, several Scud missiles, and dozens of launchers have also been moved to civilian areas and other Al Baath Party premises.
Reports from inside Syria confirm that Assad has ordered for detainees to be moved to military targets and be used as human shields against possible Western airstrikes.
The Syrian Coalition urges residents across Syria to stay away from military targets and holds the Assad regime responsible for the safety of civilians in areas where its forces have moved detainees, personnel, and military equipment.
The Syrian Coalition urges the world to help the Syrian people rid their country of a dictator and a butcher who deploys chemical weapons against his own people and uses vulnerable civilians as human shields.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
