The Syrian Coalition condemns the attack by militias of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) against the Assyrian Democratic Organization in Hasaka city. The militias raided the headquarters of the organization and sealed it. The attack represents an attempt to silence all dissident voices and prevent any opposition to the Assad regime.
These practices, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of the Syrian revolution, were taken under illegal decrees and decisions by groups that do not represent the Syrian people nor respect their will. Such practices also laid bare the role of the PYD militias whose actions only serve the Assad regime’s goals and which continue to copy the regime’s policies of denying the Syrian people their rights and suppress their freedom of expression.
The Syrian Coalition condemns these violations which also affected the offices of the Kurdish National Council in northern Syria. The parties involved in these violations must be fully aware that the Syrian people will eventually regain their rights and hold to account whoever committed a crime against them.
