Syrian Coalition Denies Information Circulated by Asharq Al-Awsat on its Meeting With Turkish FM Officials
October 29, 2017
Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on Sunday, October 29 published a news item on the meeting held between the Coalition’s political committee and officials of the Turkish Foreign Ministry in Istanbul.
The Coalition stresses that the information contained in the report and which were attributed to a Turkish official is unsubstantiated. Asharq al-Awsat’s claims that the meeting was urgently called are also baseless.
The Coalition deplores attempts to disrupt its close relations with the Turkish leadership and the Turkish people as it expresses its deep appreciation for the generous support Turkey provides to the Syrian people to help them overcome their ordeal and determine their future in accordance with their free, independent will.
The Coalition calls upon Asharq al-Awsat’s editorial board and all media workers to show caution and check the accuracy of information they obtain from sources other than its official ones. The Coalition reaffirms it is always willing to cooperate with media outlets in order to convey the facts to the public opinion in Syria and the world with total honesty and transparency.
