The Syrian Coalition condemns the targeting by regime forces of the headquarters of the Syrian interim government-run Latakia provincial council earlier today. The attack resulted in the complete destruction of the headquarters building, means of transport and an ambulance belonging to the council.
This deliberate attack represents yet another violation of the truce agreement and amounts to a war crime as it targeted civilian facilities providing services for civilians. This is the second attack by regime forces on the same headquarters in the last week.
The Syrian Coalition calls upon the UN Security Council and sponsors of the truce agreement to react to the Assad regime and its allies’ repeated violations of the truce and their continued attacks on civilian areas and on the Free Syrian Army groups that signed off on the truce agreement.
The Syrian Coalition warns that if not stopped these violations will have serious consequences on the truce agreement.
