The Arab Parliament condemned the inference by Iran and Hezbollah in the internal affairs of Arab countries, which threatens Arab national security.
In its closing statement following the conclusion of the fourth Arab Parliament session held in Cairo on Sunday, the Arab Parliament decided to designate Hezbollah a terrorist group. The statement also denounced Hezbollah’s practices aimed at undermining the security of many countries in the region.
Arab Parliament President Dr. Ahmed Al-Jarwan told the press that Hezbollah is a terrorist group as labeled by the Arab League, many international covenants and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) due to its interference in the internal Affairs of many countries of the region.
Similarly, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said on Friday that it deplored Iran’s continued support for terrorism and its interference in the internal affairs of regional and OIC member states including Bahrain, Yemen, Syria and Somalia.
The OIC held its 13th conference in Istanbul under the title: Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace with the participation of leaders from more than 50 Muslim nations. The final communiqué issued after the two-day summit expressed serious concern over the ongoing violence and bloodshed in Syria and stressed the need to preserve Syria’s unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The conference also condemned Hezbollah for conducting terrorist activities in Syria, Bahrain, Kuwait and Yemen and for supporting terrorist movements and groups undermining the security and stability of OIC Member States.
Member of the political committee Hadi al-Bahra earlier said that the Syrian people are looking forward to the Islamic anti-terror coalition, formed by Saudi Arabia in December 2015 and includes 34 countries in the Muslim world, to include in its targets all terrorist groups, including the foreign militias fighting on the side of the Assad regime.
Bahra added that these Iranian-backed groups were sent to Syria to aid Assad and expand Iran’s influence, thus further fomenting sectarianism and extremist ideologies.
“It is unacceptable that the international community lists ISIS as a terrorist group while ignoring other groups whose terrorist practices outweigh any other organization fighting in Syria,” Bahra stressed.
“Hezbollah’s terrorist practices and its intervention in Syria on the side of the Assad regime have further destabilized the region and fueled the sectarian strife. Hezbollah is a key partner for the Assad regime in the killing of more than 300,000 civilians in Syria.” (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
