The Syrian Coalition condemns the terrorist bombing that targeted civilians in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo on Saturday. Nearly 60 civilians were killed and more than 150 wounded in the bombing, while dozens of civilians are still trapped under the rubble of the massive destruction caused by the blast.
This cowardly act, which targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure, will fail to achieve the objectives set by the perpetrators, nor will it dissuade the Syrian people from continuing the struggle against terrorism which has been nurtured and fueled by the Assad regime. The Syrian people will continue the struggle against terrorism, tyranny, and foreign occupation with the same determination as ever.
This terrorist attack is part of the ongoing onslaught by the Assad regime, the ISIS extremist group and the Iranian-backed militias against the Syrian revolution, the Syrian people and their aspirations and determination to carry on their duty towards their country.
The Coalition urges all FSA and rebel groups as well as the Free Police Forces to stay vigilant and to take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such crimes. The Coalition emphasizes that the Assad regime is the source of terrorism and its root cause. Unless the international community takes decisive action to dry up this source, terrorism will continue to spread and thrive in Syria, the region and beyond.
May our wounded recover, our detainees be free, and our fallen heroes rest in peace.
Long live the Syrian people, free and with honor.
