The recent statements, accusations and threats made by a leader of the PYD militia confirm the group’s connection and organic relationship with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization.
These statements and threats against the Iraqi Kurdistan Region pose serious danger as they represent a hostility and a threat to Syria’s neighbors. They also risk involving the Syrian Kurds in external battles that contravene their interests and the broader national interests of Syria.
Terrorist and alien agendas cannot contribute to building the homeland. The PYD crimes continue unabated, most notably the repression and terrorization of civilians, mass forced displacement, arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and forced conscription.
The SOC reiterates its rejection and denunciation of the silence about the actions of the terrorist organizations that still receive support, funding and weaponry. The SOC also renews its call for dismantling and the withdrawal of terrorist groups and foreign fighters from all Syrian territory.
