Press release

The measures that the Assad regime and Iranian militias continue to implement on the ground against the besieged civilians in Dara’a city do not indicate any immediate breakthrough.
The continued blockade, plans for the mass forced displacement, constant shelling, rising civilian casualties, continued military buildup on the one hand, and the disruption of all proposals for a solution through the setting of impossible conditions on the other are measures that have long been repeated and expected. They put civilians under immense pressure and expose them to gross violations and war crimes.
We reaffirm our support for the positions of the representatives of the people of Dara’a city as we commend their steadfastness and determination to defend the city and hold their ground. We reject any new project to displace Syrian citizens from their land.
Demanding the withdrawal of the Assad regime forces and sectarian militias from Dara’a and the lifting of the blockade on it – so as to guarantee the safety and freedom of movement for civilians – are logical and natural conditions that all parties must support.
International commitments must be made to ensure the implementation of any possible agreement and to prevent the regime and Iranian militias from violating or exploiting it in any way.
