The death toll from the terrorist bombing that targeted a public market in the town of Tel Abyad in rural Raqqa on Saturday rose to 15, including women and children, while nearly 20 people were injured. The bombing also caused massive destruction to civilian homes and shops.
The crime comes a few days after a car bomb rocked the town of Afrin, killing 10 people and wounding dozens more. These attacks and the several similar attacks represent desperate attempts to spread chaos and prevent the success of the agreement on the safe zone in northern Syria.
Investigations will track down the criminal networks that stand behind these heinous crimes and expose those who sponsor terrorism, seek to target civilians, and spread chaos and destruction in certain areas.
Sponsors of terrorism will not be able to achieve their goals through cowardly targeting unarmed civilians. While such crimes lay bare the bankruptcy and helplessness of the enemies of the Syrian people, our efforts will focus on foiling attempts to sabotage the safe zone project and prevent the return of the IDP and refugees to their homes.
The Syrian National Army will continue to shoulder its responsibilities and duties and will continue to hunt town terrorist militias and track down their members everywhere. Our forces are always ready and fully prepared to prevent terrorists from sneaking into vital areas.
