The Syrian Coalition formed the Assistance Coordination Unit in December 2012 in order to coordinate urgent relief efforts to all victims of the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
The ACU provides support to Syrians based on need alone. The ACU distributes aid equally and without discrimination regardless of gender, race, religion or political beliefs, in compliance with international humanitarian aid standards.
Since its inception in 2012, the ACU has facilitated the distribution of aid and emergency humanitarian supplies, including medicine and food, in towns and cities across Syria. The ACU works with Local Coordination Councils, as well as international relief organizations to identify needs and connect donors with activists inside Syria. Additionally, the ACU has led the effort to highlight the urgent humanitarian needs in Syria through detailed reports in order to bring more aid and support into Syria.
