Local activists said that Russian jets on Monday raided towns and villages near the town of Ma’aret al-Nouman in rural Idlib, causing many civilian casualties and destroying residential buildings.
Activists said that the airstrikes killed two civilians in the village of Kafarsijna. The attack came less than 24 hours after airstrikes killed six civilians, including three children and two women, in the town of Tal Minnes. Four more people, including a child, were injured.
Airstrikes by the Assad regime killed three civilians and wounded four others in the town of al-Tih near Ma’aret al-Nu’man on Sunday.
Similar attacks killed a civilian in the town of Ma’arshourin and one another in the village of al-Hilaba, while a civilian was injured in Russian airstrikes on the town of Hazzarin.
The Syrian Civil Defense Corps said that the Assad regime and Russian forces stepped up aerial bombardment and shelling on Idlib province. The rescue group said that it counted no fewer than 50 airstrikes as well as 255 artillery shells and rockets that hit around 26 towns and villages in Idlib province.
