Airstrikes Kill 34 Civilians in Aleppo on Tuesday, Prominent Media Activists Injured

Activists and civil defense teams in Aleppo said that at least 34 civilians, including many children, were killed and dozens more injured in airstrikes by the regime and Russian forces on Aleppo and its countryside on Tuesday.

The most violent of these airstrikes hit residential buildings in Jisr Alhaj neighborhood, killing eight civilians and wounding five others. Among the injured were media activists Hadi Alabdullah and Khaled Essa, who survived the bombing but sustained minor injuries. Regime helicopters dropped naval mines on the neighborhoods of Alma’adi and Alsaliheen, with no reports of injuries. Five civilians, including a child, were killed in barrel bomb attacks on the neighborhood of Almaqamat.

Civil Defense media director Ibrahim Abu Laith said that multiple airstrikes by the Assad regime and Russian jets hit residential areas in the liberated parts of Aleppo on Tuesday. The bombings left one civilian killed in the neighborhood of Alsukkari, one in Alfirdous, two in Salah al-Din, while four civilians were injured in the neighborhood of Jabal Badrou. Abu Laith pointed out that civil defense teams recovered all victims from under the rubble.

In rural Aleppo, meanwhile, 11 civilians were killed and 21 more were wounded in airstrikes by Russian jets on the towns of Kafr Halab, Sheikh Ali, Jub Alkas, and Urm Alkubra on Tuesday.

Regime and Russian forces have escalated aerial bombardment on Aleppo province since early June. Nearly 600 civilians have been killed in Aleppo since early June, according to the Civil Defense Corps in the city. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Smart News)
