Around 300 Civilians Killed by Russia and Assad Regime since Start of Geneva Talks

The Assad regime and Russia have killed nearly 300 civilians in Syria since the launch of the Geneva III conference on January 29th, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR). The SNHR said it had documented 61 civilians by their full names as of Monday, including 14 children and 11 women.

According to an SNHR report released yesterday, 30 people were killed in Aleppo, 16 in Deir Ezzor, 8 in Rural Damascus, 4 in Dara’a, 2 in Idlib and 1 in Al-Raqqa.

Riad Nassan Agha, spokesman for the opposition High Negotiations Committee’s delegation to Geneva, urged the international community and the United Nations yesterday to take measures in order to deter Russia and the Assad regime from committing further crimes against the Syrian people.

“These barbaric attacks are designed to put pressure on the opposition’s negotiating delegation and to make a mockery of the political process currently underway in Geneva and the international community that sponsors it” Agha said.

“We came to Geneva to prove to the world that we are serious about finding a political solution at a time when the Assad regime, Russia and Iran escalate attacks on the Syrian people,” Agha added. (Source: Syrian Coalition)

Assad Regime’s Security Forces Kill 39 People in Dara’a in February

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
