The air forces of the Assad regime and Russia resumed the bombardment of towns and villages in Idlib province on Sunday in yet new violation of the ceasefire in place, causing civilian casualties.
According to local activists, a civilian was killed and another was injured in rocket shelling by the Assad regime forces on the town of Kafranbel in southern rural Idlib. A civilian was injured in artillery shelling that hit the town of Ma’arshimsha in eastern rural Idlib.
Local activists said that regime forces fired no fewer than 82 artillery shells and rockets on the towns of al-Tih, Jarjanaz, Deir Al-Sharqi, Baboulin, Ma’arshimsha, Ta Minnis, Sahyan and Ma’arshimmarin in eastern rural Idlib and Kafranbel in the southern countryside.
Artillery fire also hit the surroundings of the Turkish observation post near the village of Sheir Maghar in northwestern rural in clear violation of the ceasefire. Regime forces also shelled the towns of Anadan and Hayyan in northern rural Aleppo with heavy artillery.
The Assad regime continues to violate the ceasefire agreement which was reached on August 30. Many civilians were killed and injured in shelling that hit their homes in several towns and villages in Idlib province. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
