Destruction of Vital Civilian Centers Still Assad & Russia’s Most Lethal Weapon Against Liberated Areas

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said it had recorded 46 attacks on vital civilian centers across Syria in April, pointing out that the Assad regime and Russian forces were responsible for 70 percent of these attacks.

In a new report issued on Wednesday, the Network pointed out that the aerial and artillery bombardment by the Assad regime and Russia forces targeted vital infrastructure, mosques, medical centers, education centers, IDPs camps and residential buildings. It pointed out that the majority of these attacks took place in the province of Idlib.

The latest figures have brought to 394 the total number of attacks on vital civilian centers in Syria since the beginning of 2018.

The Syrian Coalition said that these attacks constituted war crimes as it renewed calls on the international community to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The Network concluded its report by calling on the UN Security Council to force the Assad regime and its allies to abide by resolution 2139, calling for the referral of Syria to the International Criminal Court and hold those involved in targeting civilians to account.
