Russian Jets Hit a House in Musaifra, Dara’a; Nine Civilians Killed

Russian jets hit a house in rural Dara’a in which several families were hiding to escape the bombardment, killing nine people, mostly children and women. The Assad regime and Russian air forces have further intensified the bombing campaign which targeted new towns and villages on Thursday.

Local news networks said that some families in the town of Musaifra in eastern rural Dara’a had no other choice but to stay in their houses to escape the bombardment after the Assad regime closed all roads out of the area. A Russian airstrike directly hit a house holding several households of the same family, killing nine people and injuring many others.

Local activists said that the Syrian civil defense could not help the victims because of the intense bombardment and the targeting of its centers. It noted that medical and humanitarian organizations were no longer able to carry out their work because of the fierce military operations in the province.

The Assad regime and Russia air forces targeted new towns and villages in rural Dara’a on Thursday, activists said, adding that the expansion of the bombing campaign was aimed at putting increasing pressure on the FSA groups.

A total of 21 civilians, most of them women and children, were killed as a result of the fierce military operations in Dara’a on Thursday, bringing to more than 100 the total number of deaths among civilians in the ongoing onslaught on Dara’a.

The bombing campaign have knocked out several healthcare facilities since it began a few days ago, including hospitals in the towns of Bosra al-Sham, Al-Gharriya Al-Sharqiya, Basar Al-Harir, Al-Hirak, Saida, Al-Jeeza, Nawa and Al-Taybeh. The bombings also put civil defense centers out of service, especially in the towns of Al-Hirak, Basar Al-Harir, Al-Gharriya Al-Sharqiya, and Al-Musaifra.

Meanwhile, Head of the Syrian Negotiations Commission Nasr al-Hariri criticized the silence of the United States about the Assad regime’s ongoing onslaught on Dara’a.

"The existence of a malicious deal is the only possible explanation of the absence of an American response to the atrocities taking place in Dara’a," Hariri said at a news conference in Riyadh on Thursday.

Hariri said that more people are being displaced from their homes, adding that at least 100,000 civilians have already left their homes in Dara’a to escape the brutal onslaught by the Assad regime and its militias. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
