Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, speaking ahead of a June 2nd meeting in Paris of nations fighting ISIS, said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has lost control of his country and that a political solution between his government and the opposition needed to be found quickly to “save Syria”.
“In Iraq, like Syria, international mobilization must be strengthened quickly or else we are heading towards the division of one or the other country, if not both, with new massacres and disastrous consequences,” Fabius told lawmakers.
Vice President Hisham Marwa stresses the Syrian Coalition’s outright rejection of all projects or plans that might affect the will of the Syrian people who have shown unrelenting adherence to the integrity of Syria’s territory and the unity of its people.
“We will stand firmly against all attempts to exploit the Syrian people’s struggle for freedom and dignity to pass division projects. These projects are inconsistent with the spirit of the Syrian Revolution and the Syrians’ aspirations for a transition to civil, free and democratic state where all citizens are equal before the law regardless of any standard,” Marwa said.
