Vice President Mustafa Osso said that “the latest streak of rebel gains in northern and Southern Syria against regime forces will provide us with more bargaining chips to achieve political gains that meet the aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Osso also said that “the Assad regime still believes only in a military solution,” adding that “the Assad regime, like any other totalitarian regime, is unlikely to show any flexibility to get Syria out of the tragic situation it is going through.”
Osso stated that “the Syrian Coalition is still committed to reaching a political solution to the conflict. He however stresses that de Mistura’s invitation to 40 Syrian sides to the consultations will aggravate in one way or another the divisions in the Syrian opposition while at the same time increase the cohesion of the regime.
“De Mistura’s approach lead to the floating of political entities that do not have a physical presence on the ground. I do not think that this approach will serve the Syrian people and their revolution, but instead will significantly increase division and fragmentation of the Syrian opposition.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
