The Directorate of Services in the local council of Al-Bab town in rural Aleppo, has announced the start of trial water pumping for a project aimed at delivering water to Al-Bab from the Ain Al-Bayda station, following an eight-year interruption.
The Directorate said that several stages of the project have been completed to bring water to the town. Currently, efforts are focused on cleaning and flushing the water pipelines in preparation for pumping water to Al-Bab in the final stage of the project.
Since 2017, the Assad regime has controlled the Ain Al-Bayda station, cutting off water supplies to Al-Bab. In response, the local council, in cooperation with a local organization, drilled three wells in the areas of Al-Rai and Sandi in eastern Aleppo to extract and distribute water to the town twice a week. However, these wells later experienced a severe reduction in water levels, limiting water availability to just one hour per week.
