The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi al-Bahra, emphasized that the Syrian people have great aspirations following the fall of the Assad regime, ranging from stability and security to access to top-quality services and fostering good relations with neighboring countries and the world.
Al-Bahra stated that post-dictatorship Syria seeks to rise from the ashes, rebuild its people and nation, and provide its citizens with excellent services such as education, healthcare, social welfare, and housing. He added that Syria aims for a strong free economy, creating jobs to advance its agriculture, industry, and trade.
He also highlighted Syria’s desire to strengthen ties with Arab nations that opened their doors, hosted hundreds of thousands of Syrians, and worked to alleviate their suffering, as well as with Türkiye, which hosted millions of Syrians. Additionally, Syria seeks to build positive relations with neighboring countries, the European Union, and the United States, which provided substantial humanitarian aid and shelter for tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, granting many a second homeland.
Al-Bahra stressed that Syria does not seek, nor will it accept, interference in the internal affairs of other nations or being a source of threats to their national security. Instead, Syria aims to build relationships based on mutual respect for sovereignty and shared interests.
He pointed out that a free Syria fights extremism and terrorism, combats the production and trade of drugs, and is a key partner in achieving regional and international security and stability while promoting and building peace in the region and the world.
Al-Bahra expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the Syrian people throughout the years of the revolution and to everyone who stands with them to help Syria rise again.
