At least 15 people were killed and dozens more injured in the car bomb attack that ripped through the town of al-Bab east of Aleppo on Saturday. The death toll is likely to rise as civil defense teams are still carrying out search and rescue operations.
These reprehensible crimes aim to disrupt life in liberated, safe areas and to prevent any development projects.
All parties of the international community must assume their responsibilities with regards to these crimes. No one can expect that the perpetrators, terrorists and those responsible for killing, targeting and detonating car bombs will stop carrying out these acts on their own.
We are preparing ourselves for a new battle against these terrorist organizations. All institutions, chiefly among them the Syrian National Army as well as the police and public security forces are working tirelessly to confront these operations. All our forces are on full alert to detect and fend off any new bombings.
The engineering team of the police and security forces was able to diffuse a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and booby-traps that were about to explode and cause massive additional damage.
Our battle against these organizations and the parties behind them will not end until security and stability are achieved. We are working to inform the international community, major international parties and international institutions about the latest developments on the ground and to clarify the dangers of leaving those behind such crimes outside the framework of prosecution and accountability.
These terrorist acts will not prevent us from pursuing our goal of clearing the region of terrorists, hunting down those responsible for these operations, and pursuing our way towards imposiong law, ensuring security and building a state that is based citizenship, freedom and dignity.
