President of the Syrian National Coalition, Anas Al-Abda, received a delegation from the Council of Syrian Communities in the United States on Saturday.
The meeting was arranged by the Coalition’s Office of Syrian Communities Abroad and its Coordinator, Yahya Maktabi. It brought together members of the Syrian Community Council, Zaki Lababidi, Saud Atassi, Suzanne Meriden, Suhair Bitar, and Hanadi Alwan as well as Head of the Syrian Negotiations Commission Nasr al-Hariri, Co-chair of the Constitutional Committee, Hadi Al-Bahra, Vice-President of the Syrian National Coalition, Dima Mousa, member of the political committee, Badr Jamous, and Coordinator of the Coalition’s Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Ahad Steifo.
The two sides discussed the latest on the ground and political developments, especially the ongoing onslaught by the Assad regime and its backers against civilians in Idlib province. They stressed that the onslaught constituted clear war crimes under international law and international humanitarian law.
Both sides commended the effective, influential role of the community councils in clarifying the reality of what is happening on the ground in Syria and exposing the atrocities that the Assad regime and its backers are committing against innocent civilians.
President Al-Abdah underscored the importance of continued meetings and coordination with the Council of Syrian Communities in the United States. He said that the unification of the voice of Syrians in the diaspora will have a profound impact on achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.
