Muhyiddin Binanah, Minister of Education and Higher Education in the Syrian interim government, met with an adviser to the Ministry of Education in the Turkish government today to coordinate efforts between the two ministries through the formation of joint committees to oversee all Syrian schools in Turkey. The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education of Turkey in Ankara, also discussed the bureaucracy that hampers amending the degrees obtained by Syrian students under the supervision of the National Commission for Education, and which were recognized by Turkey’s Ministry of Education. Binanah also raised the problem of Syrian students who are still unable to have their degrees amended to meet the requirements of the Turkish Education Directorates. The Turkish Ministry of Education pledged to facilitate procedures as soon as possible so that Syrian students can apply for scholarships granted by the Turkish universities.
