The U.S. envoy to Syria Daniel Rubenstein stated that “the United States is studying giving support for the Syrian interim government during a meeting with interim Prime Minister Ahmed Tomeh at the headquarters of the interim government on Tuesday. Rubenstein pointed out that the United States will also help implement “Syria in Green” project as soon as possible. Tomeh pointed to the increasing ability of the interim government to work in all sectors on all opposition-held Syrian territory, stressing that his government is working hard to provide the appropriate conditions of life to the people in those areas which have been coming under constant bombardment by regime forces. Ibrahim Miro, interim Minister of Finance, called on the American delegation to support the interim government’s project to buy wheat from Syrian farmers to provide food for Syrian citizens and to encourage wheat production in Syria.” It is worth noting that the United States will raise the issue of supporting the Syrian interim government in the upcoming meeting of the Friends of Syria Group.
