The mass forced displacement of civilians from the towns and villages of rural Aleppo continues with civilians seeking refuge near the Turkish border to escape the Assad regime and Russia’s ferocious onslaught on the region.
Local activists said that more than 3,000 households arrived in the town of Azaz in northern rural Aleppo near the Turkish border late on Sunday. Another 3,000 households arrived in the Afrin region to escape the brutal bombardment on northwestern rural Aleppo.
The new arrivals were sheltered in accommodation centers, mosques, and a building belonging to the Free University of Aleppo, while some households are still stranded on roads or pitched their tents in farmlands.
The Syrian National Coalition earlier said that “everyone is a partner in the bloodshed in Syria, those who are bombing, killing, funding, sending sectarian militias, providing the killers with coordinates, denying the Syrian people the means to defend themselves, and who are keeping silent.”
The Coalition urged the peoples around the world, civil and human rights bodies, civil society organizations and activists everywhere are required today to take action and put pressure on their governments to ensure an end to this terrorist campaign and enforce international resolutions and laws.
Western rural Aleppo has been subjected to brutal onslaught by Russia and the Assad regime forces. The assault has killed and injured hundreds of civilians and forced more than 200,000 others towards the Turkish border. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
