The FSA’s Southern Command announced the formation of a civilian police in the southern region. The new police force comprises all officers, NCOs and civilian police personnel in the liberated areas in the southern region, and it aims to establish security and safety in the towns and villages in this region. As a first step in performing its tasks, the new police force established a police station in the town of Ghadir Al Bustan in Quneitra province. The need for this force was raised in light of the FSA’s series of victories in the southern region, especially in the provinces of Dara’a and Quneitra. Rebel forces continue to advance in northwest Dara’a in an attempt to break the siege on West Ghouta and connect it to rural Dara’a. The Syrian Coalition has previously praised the progress made by the FSA in Quneitra and Dara’a provinces, and reaffirmed its full support for the FSA till the liberation of the last inch of Syrian territory. It also stresses that the Free Syrian Army is the only force capable of liberating all of Syria from the tyrant the Assad regime and ISIS, and call on the international community to step up support for the FSA so that they can achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, justice and dignity.
