Rebels took control of wide parts of the Brick Factory army base in rural Idlib following a large-scale offensive aimed at capturing the Assad regime’s remaining positions in rural Idlib. They destroyed a number of regime army vehicles and killed dozens of pro-Assad militants.
Regime forces began retreating to the town of Ariha, while the commander of the army base was reportedly killed by rebels during the retreat.
This army base consists of a number of large military checkpoints equipped with armored vehicles and guns, and has long been a launch pad for bombardment of the liberated towns and villages in rural Idlib.
Rebels also launched an offensive to liberate the town of Jisr al-Shughur and cut the regime’s supply routes linking Ariha with rural Latakia. Three regime checkpoints located at northern entrance of the town have been overrun by rebels, while clashes continue to rage for control of the security complex located inside the town.
