The Free Syrian Army launched an offensive titled “Crushing the Tyrants” to capture Al-Thaa’la air base in western rural Sweidaa’ yesterday. The attack began with artillery and rocket barrage on the air base, setting parts of it on fire.
The FSA fighters shot down a regime SU-24 fighter plane over Busra al-Harir earlier today while it was bombing civilian homes in the town.
A prisoner exchange was carried out yesterday when regime forces released detainees in exchange for the bodies of the regime militants who were killed in the recent fighting when they tried to break into the towns Lajat and Busra al-Harir.
Eleven women and 13 men, mostly from the town of Busra al-Harir, were released from regime custody in return for the bodies of 65 bodies of regime militants.
These developments come a day after rebels took full control of Brigade 52, Syria’s second-largest brigade in Syria yesterday.
Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, Salem al-Meslet, highly praises the rebel achievement in Dara’a in all fronts across Syria, stressing that what is happening on the ground is the natural course of events, specifically when rebel efforts are unified and coordinated. “These spectacular gains will resonate loudly in all parts of Syria until all of Syria is liberated,” Meslet said.
