Activists said that five massacres were committed by the Assad regime and Russian forces across Syria on Monday. Dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed and many more injured in aerial and artillery bombardment on rebel-held towns and villages.
At least 22 civilians were killed and over 60 others injured in airstrikes by Russian jets on the neighborhoods of Alsukkari and Alansari in eastern Aleppo, while six more were killed in airstrikes by regime forces on the Alzahraa Association area and the town of Kafar Naha in rural Aleppo.
No fewer than 25 neighborhoods and towns in Aleppo and its countryside are being raided on a daily basis by the Assad regime and Russian air forces.
In Homs, nearly 10 civilians were killed and injured in mortar and rocket shelling by regime forces on the besieged district of Alwaer. Regime jets raided a public market and civilian homes in the district of Douma near Damascus, killing eight civilians and wounding 40 others.
The local council in Douma declared the rebel-held district a disaster area as a result of the ongoing military campaign by the Assad regime and its allies using all kinds of weapons, including internationally banned ones against civilians in the area.
The council called on the international community to stop the regime’s brutal attacks on innocent civilians, stressing that there are not any rebel or FSA positions inside the civilian neighborhoods of Douma.
Member of the Syrian Coalition’s political committee Okab Yahya called upon the United Nations to shoulder its responsibilities to protect civilians from the terrorist attacks carried out by the Assad regime and its allies, rejecting local and temporary truces.
