The Assad regime and Russian forces continue with their brutal onslaught on eastern Aleppo, pounding the besieged parts of the city with hundreds of airstrikes, barrel bombs, and artillery shells. The attacks have been mainly targeting residential areas and vital civilian infrastructure.
At least 412 civilians have been killed by the Assad regime and Russian attacks on Aleppo and its countryside over the past week, a third of them are children, according to figures compiled by the Syrian Coalition’s media office. The office said that the Assad regime and Russian air forces have committed no fewer than 30 massacre in the besieged districts of Aleppo, home to around 300,000 people. At least 12 massacres were also the result of airstrikes in rural Aleppo claiming the lives of dozens of civilians.
The airstrikes have been intense mostly on the neighborhoods of Ma’adi, Alsha’ar, Alsukkari, Alfirdous, Jisr Alhajj, Karm Alnuzha, and Alansari.
According to the media office, regime forces used the poisonous chlorine gas in at least two attacks on eastern Aleppo, causing many cases of asphyxiation among civilians. The regime’s air force drop barrel bombs on the besieged eastern Aleppo, while the Russian jets hit the city with internationally banned weapons, including cluster bombs, incendiary munitions, and vacuum bombs.
The media office pointed out that the airstrikes have knocked out eight hospitals in Aleppo during the past week.
The Syrian interim government-run health directorate in Aleppo announced that the ferocious aerial bombing by the Assad regime and Russian forces on Aleppo forced all hospitals in the eastern parts of the city to suspend operations after they have been directly hit by the airstrikes.
