A total of 488 people have been killed in Syria since the ceasefire agreement was announced in Syria on December 29, a rights group has said. The victims included over 107 children and 56 women.
In its 8th report documenting the violations of the ceasefire, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that it has documented at least 533 truce violations in the period between December 29 and February 28. The Assad regime forces and their allied-foreign militias were responsible for the bulk of breaches, according to the monitoring group.
According to the report, most of the truce violations by regime forces have taken place in the province of Hama, with 123 violations documented, and Rural Damascus with 77 truce violations.
The Russian forces have committed at least 60 violations, including 40 in Idlib province, 16 in Aleppo, three in Hama, and one in Dara’a.
The Network called upon Russia, as a guarantor of the ceasefire agreement, to exert pressure on the Assad regime and its Iranian ally to abide by the terms of the agreement. It warned that the ceasefire will be doomed to collapse should violations by the regime and its allies continue. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department + Agencies)
