The provincial council in the town of Albab in northern rural Aleppo said that they opened the first field hospital in the town after the FSA fully captured it from ISIS in late February.
The medical office said that the opening of the hospital came as a temporary solution as all hospitals in the town were put out of action as a result of the fighting between the FSA groups and ISIS. It noted that the hospital was opened through the available resources and without any external support.
All the medical equipment that was found in the hospitals in Albab were destroyed as a result of the bitter fighting, the office said. It added that they have set up a warehouse to store the medical supplies which militants of the extremist group did not destroy before they were driven out of the town.
The medical advisory board, a subsidiary of the provincial council, is studying the possibility of turning the field hospital to a permanent one. The office pointed out that they have already begun repairing Alhikma Hospital and emergency medical centers in the ravaged town.
Doctors and nurses working in the field hospital are all volunteers as they have not received any support from aid or medical organizations. The hospital provides emergency medical services to civilians who are returning to their homes.
