Dozens of civilians were killed and many more injured in bombardment by the International anti-ISIS forces and the militias of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the city of Raqqa and its countryside on Sunday.
According to Smart News Network, about 21 civilians and 5 militants of the ISIS extremist group were killed in air strikes by the international anti-ISIS coalition and artillery shelling by SDF that targeted the neighborhoods of Rumaila, Fridous, Jamili and Dir’iya in Raqqa city of Raqqa.
Jets of the international anti-ISIS coalition forces also bombed the ISIS-held village of Hawi Alhawa west of Raqqa, killing eight civilians, including a mother and her three children. The airstrike also injured six more people who were rushed to a field hospital in Raqqa, Smart added.
The news network pointed out that jets of the international coalition struck a poultry and cattle farm in the ISIS-held village of Qusra Jumaa west of Raqqa, killing four civilians and seriously wounding two others.
The indiscriminate bombardment on Raqqa and its countryside has led to an exodus of people from the villages of Qusra Jumaa and Abu Qubayah towards other areas under the control of ISIS.
Local activists said they have documented the death of 421 civilians in Raqqa province in May, mostly in airstrikes by the international coalition forces. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
