The simultaneous terrorist bombings that ripped through the towns of al-Bab, Afrin and Azaz in rural Aleppo underlined the continued terrorist threat that terrorist militias pose to civilians in Syria, especially in the north.
A serious international stance is required in order to prevent the recurrence of these bombings that target civilians and aim to disrupt life and create chaos. The cover must be lifted from any terrorist militia in Syria by whatever international party. It is unfortunate that we witness the continuation of international support for some of these terrorist militias, such as the PKK organization and its various cells and branches in Syria.
Terrorism of the Assad regime, extremist organizations and sectarian militias that cooperate with it, including the various franchises of the PKK and the remnants of ISIS are intertwined entities that serve each other. Their practices are opposed to the Syrian people and their aspirations for freedom and dignity.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery. It calls on the international community to take a firmer stance against terrorism and its sponsors. It also calls for stepping up support for the Syrian National Army and the institutions of the Syrian Interim Government in order to confront these terrorist organizations and cells and end their threat against civilians.
