Vice-president of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Abdel Hakim Bashar said that the parties demanding the removal of the PKK organization from the international terrorism list are part of that group or a real extension of it, expressing his surprise that these calls are being made by Syrians.
Bashar’s remarks came in response to the project being marketed in the areas east of the Euphrates by putting pressure on civil society organizations to sign a petition calling on the international community to remove the PKK organization from the international terror list.
Bashar denounced that Syrian personalities and civil organizations demanded the removal of foreign organization, such as the PKK, from the terror list of the United States and the European Union.
Bashar pointed out that those who carry out this campaign or participate in it have enough security and living problems that threaten their existence, their families and their stability. He said that they should have asked the PKK organization not to interfere in the affairs of the Syrian Kurds and leave Syria, instead of further empowering this organization through such calls.
Bashar indicated that due to the practices of the PKK members in Syria and their failed policy in managing the region, more than 1,200 Syrian Kurdish citizens have recently left to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq due to the bad economic situation and the lack of security and stability.
He stressed that instead of calling for removing the PKK from the list of terrorism, these figures should seriously consider the suffering of the people in their areas after the PKK organization and its tools caused many problems in the region and their quest to use the Syrian Kurds for foreign agendas. He also said that the terrorist PKK group is fueling hostility towards neighboring countries, including the causing of damage to the bridge at Semalka border crossing and the closure of the border crossing with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
