Activists said that the ongoing relentless aerial bombardment had put all hospitals and medical centers in the town of Al-Mayadeen in eastern rural Deir Ezzor out of service.
Local activists said that the intensive airstrikes on the town have further aggravated the suffering of civilians. They pointed out that warplanes of the Assad regime, Russia, and the international anti-ISIS coalition forces had targeted the town with hundreds of airstrikes in the past few days.
Most of the residents of the town fled their homes due to the bombing campaign which also caused massive destruction to public and private property as well as infrastructure. All health centers in the town were also put out of service.
Activists pointed out that the town is now completely devoid of doctors, pharmacies and medicines. The injured are taken to villages east of the Euphrates River or to the town of Albokamal east of the city of Deir Ezzor for treatment.
Activists condemned the daily bombardment on the town of Al-Mayadeen. They also launched a campaign on social media under the title “Be with Them!” to shed light on the plight of the people of Deir Ezzor. As many as 380,000 people fled their towns and villages in Deir Ezzor province as a result of the bombing campaign and intensified fighting.
Meanwhile, Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian submarines stationed in the Mediterranean fired Kaliber cruise missiles on ISIS targets in Al-Mayadeen as regime forces advanced on the town.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has previously condemned the excessive use of force that has killed hundreds of people and destroyed hospitals and schools in different parts of Syria over the past two weeks.
The Syrian Coalition condemned the massacres and military operations claiming the lives of the innocent and unarmed civilians as it called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities to protect Syrian civilians. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
