The Syrian Interim Government’s (SIG) Health Directorate in Damascus and its suburbs said that three civilians were killed and 41 others injured in shelling by Assad regime forces on eastern Ghouta on Thursday.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Directorate said that among the wounded are eight children, including one who is in a critical condition and eight women. The Directorate said that its doctors carried out eight medical operations for those who were injured, including five men, two women, and a child.

UN humanitarian adviser Jan Egeland on Thursday said that hundreds of people in eastern Ghouta need urgent medical evacuation. Seven people have died because they were not evacuated and 29 more were at imminent risk including 18 children, Egeland added.
At a teleconference held with the Syrian Coalition’s political committee earlier this month, medical officials in eastern Ghouta warned of the deteriorating health conditions in the rebel-held area as there are around 200 patients who need urgent evacuation for treatment in specialized hospitals. They said that there were around 450 cancer patients in eastern Ghouta who are in dire need for treatment and medicine, warning that hospitals and medical centers has completely depleted their stockpiles of medical supplies.
