The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that nine civilians were killed under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime in November.
In a report issued on Sunday, the monitoring group said that the victims included two brothers from the town of Jiza in Dara’a province and others from the town of Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province as well as from the provinces of Deir Ezzor, Homs, Quneitra, Hasaka and Raqqa.
The Network also documented violations by various militant groups against Syrians and foreigners in Syria, including arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial executions amounting to crimes against humanity.
According to a report the Network published on Friday, at least 996 civilians, including 211 children and 113 women, were killed across Syria in November. It noted that 80 percent of the victims were killed by the Assad regime and its Russian ally.
The rights group earlier said that 10,034 civilians have been killed in Syria since the beginning of 2017 by parties to the conflict in Syria. The Network called on the UN Security Council to refer the situation in Syria to the International Criminal Court. It also called for the imposition of sanctions on those involved in torture and allow independent human rights organizations unfettered access to all parts of Syria.
The SNHR called on Russia to deter Assad’s forces from seeking to sabotage the ‘de-escalation zones’ agreements and to achieve progress in the issue of detainees by revealing the fate of 76,000 detainees in the prisons of the Assad regime.
