The Assad regime’s security forces continue to carry out punitive measures against civilians and former Free Syrian Army fighters in Dara’a province, including against those who agreed to enter into the enforced settlement agreements under so-called Russian guarantees in July.
In a report issued on Tuesday, the Deaths Documentation Office said that the Assad regime’s security forces detained 13 people in Dara’a province in the past 48 hours, including 11 civilians, a former FSA fighter, and a woman in the town of Sheikh Maskin.
The Office said that it compiled a list of the names of 39 people who were detained by the Assad regime in September, including 16 former FSA fighters, nine of whom were former FSA commanders.
In 14 October, the Assad regime forces detained more than 20 civilians from the town of Basr al-Harir for forced recruitment into the Assad army’s ranks in the province of Latakia.
Similar arrests took place in several towns and villages of Dara’a province in violation of the terms of the enforced settlement agreements. The Office earlier said that 12 people from Dara’a province were killed by the Assad regime following the singing of the agreement, including six people who were killed under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime.
The Syrian Coalition earlier condemned the Assad regime’s violations against Syrians in the areas that were covered by the enforced settlement agreements. It stressed that the Assad regime does not abide by any agreement, adding that such acts are part of the collective punishment against its opponents.
The Coalition said that the Assad regime looks determined to take revenge on its opponents and tighten its grip on the areas that have recently fell under its control.
