The Assad regime’s forces detained at least 60 young people in the Damascus suburb of Harasta in the past week, local activists said.
Activists said that the arrests took place during house-to-house raids and on checkpoints regime forces set up at the entrances of the district.
Voice of the Capital news network said that the detainees included 10 who were detained at a checkpoint near the water station in Harasta, one of the biggest checkpoints in the district. Manned by militants of the 4th Armored Division which is commanded by Maher al-Assad, the checkpoint is located on a major route to Damascus.
The news network indicated that the detainees were taken to the Air Force Intelligence branch located on the outskirts of Harasta.
The Assad regime forces carry out raids and arrests in eastern Ghouta on a daily basis and detain young people on political or criminal charges or to take them into forced recruitment and the reserve military service.
