On Monday morning, Assad regime forces conducted a rocket bombardment targeting the outskirts of Muhambal, a town in the western countryside of Idlib. The villages of Baidar, Shamsu, and Enab also experienced similar bombardments, with no reports of civilian casualties.
The Syrian Civil Defense said that four civilians, including a child and two women who had been forcibly displaced from the town of Maarat al-Numan in the Idlib countryside, were injured on Sunday. This occurred as regime forces targeted the town of Ariha in southern Idlib countryside.
Meanwhile, the sustained systematic attacks by both regime and Russian forces on civilians have prompted the displacement of families from Jisr al-Shughur, located in the west of Idlib.
In another tragic incident, Assad regime forces committed a new war crime by launching artillery shelling on the village of Qarqour in the Al-Ghab Plain in the Hama countryside.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) has called upon the UN Security Council to condemn this war crime perpetrated by the regime in Qarqour village. The SOC further urged the international community to explore mechanisms for breaking the deadlock in the political process, sponsored by the United Nations, and to actively work towards achieving a political transition while implementing UN resolutions on Syria, particularly Resolution 2254 (2015) and Resolution 2118 (2013).
