Anti-regime demonstrations in Suwayda city have reached their fortieth day at Karama Square in the city center. The demonstrators are demanding political change and the implementation of UN Resolution 2254.
On Thursday, participants raised banners, with some bearing messages such as: “Forty days and the flame of the uprising continues. At the peak of our determination, the regime will fall. Above all, we demand a constitution respected by everyone, especially to the ruling regime. Men and women stand equally in the square of dignity. Freedom for the detainees.”
Both men and women taking part in Thursday’s demonstrations chanted a song that proclaimed: “The land of our homeland, more precious than gold. Syria belongs to us and will always be ours. A liberated Syria with its people and its soil.”
The demonstrators reiterated their commitment to continue the protests until the regime’s departure. They also emphasized the need for a political transition in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, the implementation of UN Resolution 2118, the referral of those responsible for war crimes against the Syrian people to the International Criminal Court, and the release of detainees.
