Anti-regime protests in Suwayda province are persevering into their ninth consecutive day, with demonstrators rallying at Al-Sir (Al-Karamah) Square daily at 11 am. Their consistent presence reinforces their core demands: the departure of the Assad regime and a transformative political change within Syria.
This morning, youth groups fanned out across Suwayda city, compelling the shutdown of numerous government offices prior to official working hours. Concurrently, these youth groups gather on main village roads each day, temporarily obstructing them using tires. This tactic was recently employed in Mardak village within Suwayda’s outskirts.
The towns of Shahba and Salkhad have been hosting daily anti-regime demonstrations since the initial protests commenced in the province. Demonstrators exhibit creativity by crafting revolutionary songs and chants that voice their rejection of the Assad regime and fervent yearning for freedom.
On Sunday, various towns such as Salim, Melh, Soura Saghira, Al-Kafr, Al-Majdal, Amatan, Al-Qurayya, Dhibin, Um Riwaq, Al-Hawiya, and Al-Thala held sit-in protests. Simultaneously, residents from nearby villages like Samid, Al-Kharsa, Qom, Umm Al-Zaytoun, Majadel, and Ariqa congregated to participate in a demonstration at Dama village.
