Turkish President Recep Tayyeb Erdogan said that “the Syrian crisis has created the biggest humanitarian tragedy since the end of World War II,” blaming the Assad regime for the rise of ISIS and for the refugee crisis. Erdogan also said Assad has incurred all kinds of injustice against Syrians for nearly five years.
President Erdogan criticized the world’s silence over the Assad regime and Russia’s bombing of civilians in Syria. He pointed out that Russia and the Assad regime continue to bomb civilians, but the world, the European Union, and the United Nations are keeping silent. Those civilians, he added, has no other choice but to flee the brutal bombardment carried out by the Assad regime and Russia’s warplanes.
President Erdogan stressed the need to expeditiously initiate political transition in Syria, saying that disrupting the political transition will only aggravate the ongoing humanitarian crisis. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Anadolu)
