The International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) called for immediate public and international action to stop the “massacres” taking place in Aleppo. It declared next Friday as day of support for Aleppo.
The Union denounced the “silence of the international community over the as horrible tragedy unfolding in Aleppo,” calling on Arab and Muslim leaders to assume a firm stand against “the brutal aggression on the Syrian Arab Muslim people.”
The IUMS urged countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Arab League as well as all Muslims around the world “to stop watching idly by as the genocide against the people of Aleppo continues.”
The Union called on “international organizations to assume their responsibilities to protect civilians from the systematic, brutal bombardment of Aleppo by the Assad regime and its allies in violation of international humanitarian law.”
The Union appealed to humanitarian relief organizations to offer urgent help to displaced people and children of Aleppo.
